My Vision: Poetry by Adeola Ikuomola

MY VISION

Her eyes
are twin swords
cutting the dark cords
off my waiting brilliant skies

Her wings
breach the dome
of the mountain peak
keeping me in whiter clouds

Her flight
within the storms
riding on wild angles
roars through thick galaxies

Her convoy
trailed by thundering
in lightning’s highways
overtakes the darkness’ envoy

My vision
kisses my mission
in the glowing commission
limelighted on my flying decision

MATERIALISED MENTAL MATTERS

The richest of the rivers roar
as the oceans observe
the ever reigning rocks
hailing the highest hills
seeking the superstars
married to marbled moon
for immaculate imageries
engraved on poetic parlance
as materialised mental matters
in treasured treaties of thoughts

HALTING THE CRACKDOWN

The simmering anger
In the northern skies
Was another page
In the book of hell
With perishing injuries
The day descended
Into the stewing hole
Of grief and despair
All the mountains wept
Over the dying valleys
The floods were beasts
Bearing huge burdens
Households were pilgrims
Bent double with sorrow
Seeking out ocean liners
For curative consolations
Then the restorative crow
From the pen so faithful
Underlined the rainbow
Halting the crackdown

THE CALL OF DUTY

The sky’s roaring facilities
With the seas’ tribal marks
Echoed the swarm of bees
In gangs of armed robbers
Then the class of scholars
From the school of whales
Brooded over the chickens
On a fire board of directors
A bench of the magistrates
In the roaring pride of lions
Like the force of policemen
Upon the troop of monkeys
A gaggling gaggle of geese
Hatched out crew of sailors
As galloping herds of cattle
On the bare field of runners
