'Shèun Ominira-Bluejack

Born in England into an old Nigerian family that counted kings and commoners as ancestors, the Nigerian writer, filmmaker, poet and visual artist 'Shèun Ominira-Bluejack was raised and educated in various parts of Africa over the course of the succeeding three decades. He has a mother, a sister and two cats that he loves dearly, and has been writing and performing for most of his life - even if it was mostly only for their consumption. A leftist and a womanist by inclination, his mediums are varied, but upper-class frivolity, fabulism and allegory often occur in his pieces, and he has received various accolades for his multifaceted body of work over the years; a short film that he co-wrote while at film school - Esther - won the award for best cinematography at the 2013 edition of the 48 Hour Film Festival in Cape Town, South Africa, a work-in-progress novel - Welcome To The Jungle - won an award bursary from the Scottish Arts Trust in 2026 that allowed him to enter the Edinburgh Novel Awards in that year, a trailer treatment for Hashtag - a film concept that he developed with his sister Bebe Ominira-Bluejack - was selected in 2025 for inclusion in “Soro Soke: What Do You Remember?”, a time capsule and memorial to the #EndSARS victims that was co-curated by the Goethe Institut Nigeria, the Nwa Ala Collective and the Art Bridge Project, and three visual artworks - Albareum Logo, Skittles and Water Paint - that were created by him and his fellow members of the Albareum Collective in 2025 were selected to be shown as part of the “Silence and Motion” art exhibition at the Holy Art Gallery in London, England, in February, 2026. A prince of the Iralepo and Fubara Manilla Pepple dynasties in the Nigerian chieftaincy system, Mr. Ominira-Bluejack currently serves as the administrative co-ordinator of the historical, genealogical and anthropological service "African Royal Families" (or “A.R.F.”), which is active on various online platforms.
