A Game of Fools: A Poem by Enekwe Ginikanwa

A GAME OF FOOLS

An iron gate

Of incredible height.

Locked,

Split in two

By a game of fools

Indispensable

The air I breathe.

The rising sun on my

Sun baked skin.

Satisfying,

The bread I take.

Soothing,

Dew drops.

A game of fools.

The moon overhead

A lover’s night.

A silent night

Broken by our heartbeat.

Then, on Earth,

I see our tight shadows.

Save us Holy Matrimony.
