Queen of all Flowers: Poetry by Agnes Aineah

Queen of all Flowers

Queen of all flowers thriving amid barbs

Tell me sweet rose the secret of your smile

No mortal conceives wisdom hidden for ages

None has found joy veiled in such sorrow.

Pricked, squeezed, body mutilated in death

Our rose now retires with a life giving breath

And her splendor expires into first full fruit.

Queen of all flowers in grief gives life back

And in a lover’s hesitant hands whacks warring tides

How with a sword pierced through your side

Do you carry such weight and still keep a brother?
