Lagos Writers Celebrate Soyinka the Lion of Nigerian Letters @ 75

A great pride of Nigerian letter, Prof. Wole Soyinka will be 75 this July 13, the Centre of Excellence chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Lagos will be rolling out the drums for this most lettered one whose longevity of life remains puzzling considering his fights and dare-devilry against the system and share adventure from his youth till date.

For us as writers, Wole Soyinka remains another living proof that those who save their lives would always lose it, but those who lose their lives for a cause would always gain it, a growing characteristic of the longevity of fighters who escape falling on the battlefield.

ANA Lagos has chosen to roll out the drums for this lion of Nigerian letter as we commence the gathering of the tribe of writers and readers to do A CRITIQUE OF THE LIFE AND LETTERS OF WOLE SOYINKA AT 75 through the lenses of the post 1960 born generation of Ngerian writers.

Happily, says the chairman and author of The WEIGHT OF WAITING, 2009 some Nigerian letters abroad are home to help us divine the life and letters of a man with a most unusual head for apprehending and comprehending elusive and profound matters with his deep mind.
