OPEN TO AFRICAN WRITERS

The Journey
We started this journey in 1999 as the Writers Write category of another website, Nigeriansinamerica.com. But the section quickly assumed a life of its own and in the year 2003, we moved all the literary entries to this domain, Africanwriter.com. Here we are today, so many years later, still as welcoming of adventurous writing as ever, and still featuring works by emerging as well as established African writers and critics, including Maik Nwosu, Abigail George, Sanya Osha, Jude Dibia, Amran Gaye, E.E. Sule, Fungisayi Sasa, Nnedi Okorafor, Chika Unigwe, etc.

Contribute
The writers here, scattered across the globe - from Nigeria to the ivory towers of Frankfurt - remain united by their African root and hopes and the unyielding umbilical cord of their creativity. Africanwriter.com welcomes contributions exclusively from/about African writers (and writing) at home and abroad. Dare to add your voice to the gathering thunder...

To get a feel of the kind of materials we publish, please check out the entries posted here in the different categories over the years. If you are confident that you can write as well as the writers we have published, or you believe your voice is unique enough to command attention, please contact us.

General Format
We publish poetry (send at least three, but more is good!), short fiction, essays, interviews, reviews, book excerpts and drama. Ensure all entries are single line spaced, one line space between paragraphs and in standard Times New Roman 12pt. font. Do try not to send anything longer than 12 - 15 pages.

1) Send all entries via email to write (at) africanwriter.com or CLICK HERE. Send all submissions AS WORD ATTACHMENTS please.

2) Attach a brief profile.

3) (Optional) Attach a photo.

Your submission will be reviewed as quickly as possible and you should hear from us (or see it posted on this website). Since we receive a lot of emails monthly, please be advised that there may be a turn-round period for assessing your submissions.

Thank you.
